One of the best things about the Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One console is their ability to run emulators with great performance and quality. The consoles have also gained access to one of the most popular Nintendo GameCube and Wii emulators. The Dolphin emulator has finally made its way to the Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
Xbox console owners can now play Nintendo GameCube and Wii games via the Dolphin emulator. However, it is not an out-of-the-box product; users will still need to go through many hoops. Fortunately, it is all worth it as the Dolphin emulator shows excellent performance for Nintendo GameCube and Wii games.
While the Xbox One console can run the Dolphin emulator, its performance is far from satisfactory. Due to the dated process of the Xbox One line of consoles, the emulator can hardly run at 15-25 frames per second. We recommend just using the Xbox Series X/S for playing games at 1440p 60 FPS.
Note: This version of the Dolphin emulator is still in the Beta version, and the installation process might change in the future. Despite being in beta, the emulator performs quite well on the Xbox Series X/S consoles.
How To Install Dolphin Emulator On Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One
Since the Xbox consoles run Windows, they can use the beta version of the Dolphin Emulator, which was built as a Universal Windows Platform app. This version of the Dolphin app works way better than the RetroArch emulation. As for ROMs and ISOs, we recommend ripping them legally and storing them in a USB stick that you can plug into the console.
1. First, users must enable the developer mode on their Xbox console.
2. Download the latest version of the Dolphin emulator for UWP on your PC.
3. Open the Dev Home on your Xbox console and set up Remote Access.
4. Go to a web browser on your PC and connect to the URL shown under the Remote Access page.
5. Through the Xbox Device Portal, install the Dolphin emulator app.
6. Once installed, users must set up the Dolphin emulator to play Nintendo GameCube & Wii Games.
