With the new year of 2023, mobile gamers have a lot to savor from the new content and new games to be released this year. In the past year, we have had the privilege to be there for the release of several great games on the mobile platform, some of which are already topping some charts. But like every year, 2023 is also going to see the release of multiple new games. In this list, we will share the list of upcoming mobile games that we think fall in the list of the top 10 upcoming games for 2023.
List of top 10 upcoming mobile games in 2023
1. Call of Duty Warzone Mobile
What other way to kick off the list than with the latest confirmed upcoming iteration of the iconic Call of Duty franchise? The original PC version of the game, Call of Duty: Warzone was released in the year 2020 with huge commercial success. The battle-royale game took the gaming world by storm and was the game that was seen everywhere. Following the success of the PC version, Activision decided that it was time to bring the game to mobiles as well, and thus Warzone Mobile was announced earlier this year.
The game is currently available for users to pre-register and is rumored to be launched sometime around the month of May 2023. Footage from the alpha and beta test versions of the game have already been released to the public and all that we can say is that the game is indeed going to be a great one if Activision retains that level of productivity.
2. Honor of Kings
Honor of Kings has achieved legendary status in the world of mobile gaming, despite only being available in China, and the main version is not available in the rest of the world. It is the highest-grossing mobile game of all time, and what is impressive is that it has achieved this feat by only accounting for the revenue made in China. A redefined global version called Arena of Valor already exists but as of June 2022, Level Infinite, the developer of HoK announced that it will bring the original version of the game to the global market.
3. Valorant Mobile
Valorant has without a doubt been the hot cake of PC gaming in recent times, at least when it comes to competitive FPS shooter games. Riot Games did a phenomenal job of taking the best elements of well-grounded FPS games and mixing them into a single game in Valorant. Valorant also boasts a booming esports ecosystem and has been voted the Esports Game of the Year 2022.
Riot, therefore, has decided to expand the world of Valorant to mobile devices and capitalize on the popularity of the game worldwide. The expansion to mobile devices is already much anticipated with fans of the game waiting for the game to come out. To keep the game unique, Riot has also taken initiatives to ban rip-off versions of the game which were already available in Google Play. All in all, the 5v5 gunfight experience of Valorant is something players can hardly wait to experience on mobile.
4. Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade
Assassin’s Creed has long been nothing less than a household name for those who are into gaming, especially of the stealth and action genre. Characterized by its gripping storyline and extremely refined hand-to-hand combat physics, Assassin’s Creed is one of the most popular game titles in the world. Ubisoft, its creator, has decided to tap into the potential of mobile gaming and has announced the release of Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade for mobile devices.
The mobile version of the game will be an open-world RPG as per reports and will allow players to explore ancient China in the game. Although not much has been disclosed about the game as of yet, we know that players will be getting a classic AAA Assassin’s Creed experience packed with stealth, action, and exploration, all of which will fit right onto handheld devices.
5. Age of Empires Mobile
Developed by Xbox Game Studios, Age of Empires is a real-time strategy game that will be available for mobile games sometime in the year 2023. Unlike other games, this is not the first time that Age of Empires has tried to venture into the world of mobile gaming. In 2014 we saw them make an effort by launching Age of Empires: Castle Siege for Windows phones which ultimately failed and the game was scrapped.
Age of Empires is an old franchise, dating back nearly two decades, and is a proven game in terms of commercial success and popularity among fans. The game is centered around events in Europe, Africa, and Asia. Players build and take control of large civilizations which span from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. What’s more, is that this game also promises the bloom of a budding esports scene along with its release.
6. Sims 5 Mobile
Codenamed Project Rene, the upcoming Sims 5 game for mobile is currently in its early testing phases as confirmed by leaked images and by those who are actively participating in the early testing phases of the game. Although not much is known about the game and when it will launch in 2023, it is sure that the game is in development and will be announced to the general public rather sooner than later.
7. The Division Resurgence
Yet another game developed by Ubisoft apart from Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade, The Division Resurgence is the latest upcoming iteration in the Tom Clancy franchise and will be available on mobile devices. The game will take place in the same world as Tom Clancy’s The Division and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. But unlike them, The Division Resurgence will have a storyline that will not be connected and will be independent.
The game will feature a third-person perspective as the mode of gameplay and will have a story-driven campaign as well. The testing for the game is already completed and things are looking pretty good so far. To top things off, The Division Resurgence would also support a wide range of controllers.
8. Clash Heroes
Developed by Supercell Shanghai, Clash Heroes is the new upcoming game of the Clash universe set to release in the year 2023. This game is unique in the way that it will feature gameplay that will focus on the completion of quests in a linear top to down format, unlike other Clash games.
The settings of the game will be made different and unique from other games in the franchise in order to make for a more immersive and exciting experience. The characters in the game will also have customizable outfits as an added bonus.
9. Honor of Kings: World
Developed by the gaming developing giant of China, Tencent Games, Honor of Kings: World will be a spinoff title of the massively popular MOBA game, Honor of Kings, and will be available on multiple platforms, and most importantly, on mobiles.
From the clips available online and the trailer, the game looks like it will be somewhat like Genshin Impact. Players will be able to explore underwater as the gameplay reveals swimming scenes under the water. It seems the game will also have an area that will only be focused on exploring the underwater kingdom, just like Tower of Fantasy.
10. Need for Speed
If you are a car lover, or an adrenaline junkie, Need For Speed is one of the few franchises which can give you the experience you are looking for on a mobile device. Developed by EA and TiMi Studios, the game will put the player behind the steering wheel of a car in the role of a ragtag motorhead set to explore the open world in the game.
There’s not much to speculate on now, except for the information that the game is playable in early testing phases and will be available sometime in 2023.
